Interior Design Walk

November 1965. After years of reconstruction and the devastating losses of World War II, the rebuilt Teatr Wielki - Polish National Opera reopened its doors to the public. Its interiors, designed in a hybrid style, stirred both controversy and admiration.

To mark the 70th anniversary of this event, we invite you to a special walk dedicated to the theatre’s architecture and its designer – Bohdan Pniewski.

During the visit, we will take a closer look at the details and decorations of the theatre’s most representative spaces. We will uncover the story of its post-war reconstruction and learn about the architects and artists who gave the interiors their unique character.

The route includes the lower and main foyers as well as the auditorium – a rare opportunity to leisurely stroll through the National Opera’s interiors and see them just as their creators once envisioned.
